Megan Thee Stallion – Radio Host Slammed For Asking Rapper About Her Mom, Unaware That She Died [VIDEO]

Things got awkward for up and coming rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a recent appearance at a local Alabama radio station. While being interviewed, she was asked about her mother in the present tense by a radio host who apparently didn’t know that her mother recently passed away.

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion recently stopped by Birmingham, Alabama radio station 95.7 Jamz for an interview and to promote her music, but things took an extremely awkward turn when she was asked by radio host Jermaine Johnson why her mother no longer travels with her.

Johnson, asked Megan:

“Now, I was wondering if you was gon’ bring your Mom with you today. I know she travels with you a lot, but she a manager and all that good stuff for you. And your Mom was in the game before you, right?”

After noticing her pause and being visibly shaken, Johnson continued, saying:

“No? Don’t wanna talk about it? Oh, ok we’ll go another way then.”

After immediate and intense backlash, Johnson took to social media to explain what happened, stating that despite doing “hours” of research he didn’t know her mother passed away:

“I know folks want to see a train wreck, but it was an honest mistake and I already apologized multiple times to the one person who deserved it. Sometimes you can research for hours and still miss important details. And that’s what happened. I wanted to highlight her relationship with her mother for Mothers Day, and just didn’t know what I didn’t know. Shout out to her for finishing the interview and being a class act in spite of everything. Apologies again to Meg, her family and her true fans. I’ll take the blame for this one, but my heart was in the right place”

He then followed that up by sharing text messages between himself and Megan, showing that he apologized again. You can check out the text message exchange BELOW:

Back in late March, Megan’s mother died, and she posted a tribute to her on social media, writing:

“The best mom in the whole world. The strongest woman on the planet. I can’t even put complete sentences together rn RIP mama”
