Omarosa Wants To Join Lawsuit Against President Trump: I Was Paid Less Than Male Staffers!
Omarosa Manigualt Newman is lawyering up! The former White House staffer wants to join a pay discrimination suit against president Donald Trump.
Omarosa worked as the director of African American outreach for the Trump campaign. She later transitioned to the White House as an assistant to the president and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison. She was fired in 2017.
On Monday, she reportedly filed documents to join a suit against President Trump and his campaign, alleging pay discrimination on the basis of gender. The former Celebrity Big Brother star states,
“After nearly 20 years inside the Beltway, working for two White Houses and countless political campaigns, I’ve never witnessed such egregious violations as I did during my time under the leadership of Donald Trump and Mike Pence.”
She adds,
“While I strongly suspected I was subjected to pay discrimination while with the Trump Campaign, I have since seen expert analysis confirming this to be true. The numbers don’t lie.”
In court documents, she claims that she was paid less than a male campaign employee
“whose work required substantially equal skill, effort, and responsibility”.
She also alleges the campaign paid other female employees less than men employed in similar jobs.
She is seeking to join a suit filed by Alva Johnson, a former Trump campaign staffer who says Trump kissed her without her consent in August 2016 and paid her less than white male staffers.
Last year, Omarosa released a memoir about her experience at the White House. The book was a New York Times best seller.
