theJasmineBRAND is sad to report that singer Melvin Edmonds of legendary R&B group, After 7, has passed away. His death, of a longtime illness, was confirmed on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Known for his velvety smooth tone, he lead chart-topping After 7 hits such as “Ready or Not,” and “Can’t Stop.” The group’s success garnered both Grammy and NAACP Image award nominations.

A life-altering stroke as well as other health issues were reported on the group’s “Unsung” special on TV One. Neither Babyface nor the members of After 7 have commented on the death of their dear brother Melvin Edmonds at the time of publication. Melvin was 65 years old.
