UPDATE: Nipsey Hussle’s Sister Samantha Smith Posts Message Amidst Being Granted Custody Of His Daughter

UPDATE: Just after it was announced that she has officially been granted custody of her niece, Nipsey Hussle‘s 10-year-old daughter Emani Asghedom, Samantha Smith posted a simple confirmation of the turn of events on her Instagram.

Smith‘s post read:

“I am my Brothers keeper”

The intense custody battle between late rapper Nipsey Hussle’s sister, Samantha Smith, and the mother of his daughter, Tanisha, is over for now. A judge reportedly granted Smith custody of the ten-year-old, Emani Asghedom. The child had already been staying with Smith since Hussle’s untimely passing on March 31.

The two families are scheduled to go back to court in July. For now, Tanisha is said to be working with Smith and Hussle’s family on a suitable visitation schedule. Still, she was spotted leaving the court hearing and refused to comment about the outcome, according to reports.

In her initial petition for custody, Smith, who was present in Asghedom’s life even when Hussle was alive, said Tanisha was unfit to have custody of the child. She said she hoped to,

“ensure the continued stability for Emani and ensure that she will be able to maintain her current and ongoing relationship.”

As previously reported, that Tanisha is also facing a warrant for her arrest that stem from DUI charges back in 2006 and 2007.
