Jussie Smollett Now Facing Possible Prosecution In Alleged Hate Crime Attack
Just when you thought Empire star Jussie Smollett was officially leaving his widely covered legal troubles behind him…things have recently gotten worse. It’s being reported that Smollett could indeed still face prosecution for allegedly faking his January hate crime attack.
The Jussie Smollett saga has had more twists and turns that any episode of his hit show Empire ever could. Now, just as things had finally seemed to settle down for the actor—it could possibly get a lot worse.

According to reports, a Chicago judge has ordered a special prosecutor to be appointed to review the way previous prosecutors handled the case, ultimately resulting in its dismissal.
In the judge’s official written order, he explained what this means for Smollett:
“If reasonable grounds exist to further prosecute Smollett, in the interest of justice the special prosecutor may take such action.”
The judge also noted that the “unprecedented irregularities identified in the case” warrants the appointment of a special prosecutor to take a deeper look into things.

He also expressed just how terribly he feels the case was handled:
“There was no master on the bridge to guide the ship as it floundered through unchartered waters. And it ultimately lost its bearings.”
Ironically, Smollett, who’s been keeping an extremely low profile on social media, recently posted how he’s feeling these days—and thanked his fans/supporters:
“Grateful for LOVE. Grateful for y’all. Grateful for another year around the sun. #SummerSolstice #StillSmiling”

Time will tell how this ends up, but given the feelings for Smollett in Chicago, it doesn’t look good.
