Clippers Make Blockbuster Move To Acquire Kawhi Leonard & Paul George

The NBA Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard made it known his pursuit in free agency would come at any moment while remaining very discreet in signing with his next destination. After meeting with several teams including the current NBA Champions, Toronto Raptors, and the Los Angeles Lakers, according to reports, Leonard has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Kawhi Leonard has informed runners-up teams of his plans: He’s signing with the Clippers.”

In order for the agreement to be completed, Leonard request a trade for Paul George.

”After Leonard pushed George to find a way to get to the Clippers, Paul George approached the team and requested a trade, league sources tell ESPN. OKC was left with no choice and made the best out of a difficult situation, per sources.”

Reportedly, last Monday night, the Clippers met with Leonard at Clippers coach, Doc Rivers’ home around three hours. According to reports, both sides went to work to make the now blockbuster trade. At the same time as Leonard continued his meeting with the Lakers and Raptors, Leonard pursued George via text trying to convince him to find a way out of Oklahoma City.

For trading George To LA, The Oklahoma City Thunder receives Clippers unprotected 2022, 2024 and 2026 picks, their unprotected 2021 and protected 2023 first-round picks via Miami, and the rights to swap picks with the Clippers in 2023 and 2025, according to ESPN
