Stevie Wonder Going On Performance Hiatus For Kidney Transplant
Stevie Wonder will be taking a break from performing to receive a kidney transplant. He shared the update with British Summer Time concertgoers in London Saturday night.
“So what’s gonna happen is this: I’m going to have surgery. I’m going to have a kidney transplant in September of this year.”
He then told fans all is well with him.
“I’m all good, I’m all good, I’m all good. I have a donor, it’s all good. I want you to know, I came here to give you my love and to thank you for your love.”
His announcement came after reports revealed he was suffering a
“serious but manageable health issue.”
One of his close friends also said,
“He’s got some health challenges, but he doesn’t want a big PR thing out of this.”
After speculation swirled around his health, Wonder said,
“You ain’t got to hear no rumors about nothin’, I told you what’s up. I’m good.”
He’s scheduled for three more shows before his break.
Be sure to keep up with The Jasmine Brand for the latest.
