Mathew Knowles Is Entering The Weed Business, Named Chief Marketing Officer At Bangi, Inc.
Business is booming in marijuana and Mathew Knowles is the latest celebrity to enter the lucrative industry.
According to reports, the 67-year-old business man, who is father to Beyonce and Solange Knowles, has signed on as chief marketing officer of Bangi Inc., a company that buys and leases real estate for weed farms and dispensaries.
Knowles explains Bangi’s role,
“We are buying land .?.?. We’ll lease it back to the growers, the dispensaries, the extraction companies.”
He will be putting together their global marketing campaign.
Meanwhile, Knowles’ son-in-law, Jay Z, has also entered the same business.

He’s been named the Chief Brand Strategist for Caliva, a privately-owned cannabis company in San Jose, California. He’s already signed on to a multi-year partnership. The key part of his role will be to assist with social justice issues over the legalization of marijuana. He’s also set to help with job training for former inmates and push strategies that will improve the representation of the previously incarcerated in the weed industry. Jay-Z explained why he contacted the company in his search for a partnership in the marijuana field.
“Anything I do, I want to do correctly and at the highest level. With all the potential in the cannabis industry, Caliva’s expertise and ethos make them the best partners for this endeavor. We want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way.”
Knowles admits that he was unaware of Jigga’s deal and learned in the press about it.
“I found out the way you found out. [I thought,] ‘How ironic.’ I called my people, [and was like,] ‘Damn, I wish mine would have come out first!’ The same week is cool. Neither one of us knew what the other was doing.”
