“Insecure” to Start Filming 4th Season in September
Great news for fans of the Emmy-nominated HBO series, “Insecure!” The show’s fourth season is well underway, according to reports. Creator/star Issa Rae confirmed that the progress of the season is moving from the writer’s room to in front of the camera very soon. Issa said:
“[We start] shooting in September.”
The fourth season is the gift that keeps on giving for the show’s cult following! It’s episode count has been upped from eight episodes to ten! Last year, “Insecure’s” showrunner Prentice Penny explained that the series was kept at eight episodes to get the show to viewers in a more timely fashion. He tweeted:
“It’s not that we don’t want to give y’all what you want but it takes 10 months to make a season. Adding more episodes and making them longer will actually take MORE time to get to you. That’s an additional 4 months to make inbetween breaking stories, filming and editing.”

This past March, Penny and Issa Rae were pictured toasting to the next season at the SLS Hotel – commenting that they were brainstorming new storylines.

As we previously reported, season four of “Insecure” had to be pushed back due to Issa’s burgeoning career as a movie star in titles such as “The Hate U Give” and “Little.” The HBO will premiere in 2020.
