Mary J. Blige Says She’s Single By Choice ‘I Don’t Have To Make The Same Mistakes Over & Over Again’

Mary J. Blige said she’s doing just fine after her tumultuous divorce. While it was just finalized last year, she and Kendu Isaacs had heated proceedings that went very public after the singer filed in 2016. They were married for 15 years.

But now, Mary is all about moving forward. She says,

“It’s taken a big toll, and it’s taken a big chunk out of my life, but I don’t want that to be the message I send to these women. I want it to be like, ‘We can move on. We can let things go so we can move forward in our life.’ I’m definitely in a stronger place.”

The singer, 48, also revealed that she’s still single, which is what she wants right now.

“I’m not dating at all. I’m not dating by choice. I’m just focused, man. I got things to do. I’m trying to just continue to build and build and structure so that when I do turn 50, things can be different. I don’t have to make the same mistakes over and over again. I don’t have to suffer the way I’ve done.”

Still, she hasn’t been shy about what she wants in her next relationship. She said in February,

“He has to have more money than me, that’s for sure, because I’m not taking care of any more men.”

Her phrase came after Isaacs allegedly requested $120,000 a month in spousal support. Plus, he also wanted Mary to financially provide for his mom. He was temporarily granted $30,000 a month.

Isaacs also had a few things to say back in 2017.
