Popeyes Famous Chicken Sandwich Generates Mores Than $60 Million From Social Media, Announces They’ve Sold Out – For Now

Game over! The craze for one of the most popular chicken sandwichs has come to a halt as the Louisiana restaurant announced on Tuesday, that they sold out of their famous chicken sandwich. In a tweet, the restaurant writes their appreciation for the weeks of support as all stores nationwide will retire their popular sandwich.

“Y’all. We love that you love The Sandwich. Unfortunately we’re sold out (for now).”

The clip also included footage of the several wait lines that wrapped around the buildings all over the country. In addition to the lengthy lines, in a clip the sandwich  can be seen being sold on eBay for over $7,000.

The craze began after a Twitter feud between Chick-fil-A and Popeyes inspired consumers to taste the new sandwich for themselves. As word of mouth continued to grow adding the underrated effects from social media, the fast food restaurant reportedly generated $65 million from multiple social media platforms, according to reports.

In a statement, Popeyes spokesperson Dara Schopp explained the overwhelming support from social media,

“It has been amazing to see our guests share their love for our brand and for the new Chicken Sandwich on social media and beyond, and we are truly humbled and grateful for their support.”

The restaurant reiterated that the popular chicken sandwich will make a return in the near future.

Recently, rapper Quavo of the Migos posted a clip of himself on Instagram selling the popular Popeyes sandwiches out of the trunk of his car. The sandwich retails for only $3.99, Quavo jokingly says he’s selling each sandwich for $1,000.

“I heard y’all boys was looking for them, they sold out everywhere. I got them things going for $1,000 a chicken.”
