Rapper Nicki Minaj took to Instagram on Friday (Sept. 6th) to announce her peak into her collaboration with the fashion line, Fendi. Nicki shares her playful and flamboyant collection which features the classic double F logo all-over pattern combined with metallic, shimmering surfaces and rich textures. Nicki’s Fendi collection, called “Fendi Prints On,” is set to be launched online on oct. 14 and will be available in select stores on Oct. 16th.

After posting her new collection, Nicki explained how the collaboration with Fendi began with the success of her single, “Chung-Li.” She writes,

“Don’t you ever doubt yourself. If anyone would’ve told me as a lil girl from Trinidad that grew up poor that one day my face would be on a piece of Fendi clothing, I would’ve laughed. Your support for #ChunLi led to this. A song I made up off the top of my head as a joke. ILoveU”

Fendi’s chairman and chief executive officer, Serge Brunschwig addressed wanting to join forces with Nicki. He tells WWD,

“Nicki was friends with Karl, she is a friend of Silvia and of the house. For a long time we’ve wanted to do something together and we’ve been busy following up on what Karl wanted to do with us, such as the couture show in Rome.”

He continues,

“She is a great artist and one of the best rappers. Fendi shares great affinity with her. She represents one of Fendi’s dimensions, the fun aspect of the brand and she will present it extremely well.”

As previously reported, the rapper abruptly announced her retirement and her plans to focus on her family. She tweeted Thursday (Sept 5th),

“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me.  Love you for LIFE.”

The following day, Nicki apologized to her fans. In a response to one of her fans, she writes:

“I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe ???”
