Kevin Heart Breaks Silence After Car Crash, Has ‘Nothing But Love’ For Driver Jared Black

It’s been more than a month since Kevin Hart was involved in a serious car crash, and he’s speaking out about it for the first time.

It was previously reported that Hart was riding in the passenger seat while his friend Jared Black drove Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda at the time of the crash. Black’s fiancée Rebecca Broxterman was in the back seat. Black and Hart had “serious back injuries” while Broxterman didn’t suffer any major injuries.

The Jumanji actor released his first statement Thursday (Oct. 10), and used that moment to salute Black. He said,

“I have nothing but love for Jared and wish him and Rebecca a speedy recovery.”

His lawyer, Andrew Brettler, also said Hart will be back in full swing next year.

“While he’s doing a little work here and there for the film, he doesn’t expect to be fully back to work until the new year.”

While Hart released a statement, he hasn’t posted on social media since Aug. 31, a day before the crash.

And his wife Eniko Hart’s most recent post dates back to earlier this week.

Eniko also spoke out a day after the crash and said,

“He’s good. Everybody’s good.”

Kevin, who received extensive back surgery and spent 10 days in the hospital following the accident, has already started doing promotional work for the forthcoming Jumanji sequel that will be released in December. While he can walk on his own, he reportedly has to sit for most of the day and is still in physical therapy.

Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol has determined that reckless driving is what caused the crash. Reckless driving is defined as

“a person who drives a vehicle upon a highway in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.”

Black reportedly “quickly accelerated,” causing the right back tire to break traction, resulting in Black losing control of the car, according to a CHP report. The car then reportedly ran into a tapered curb and vinyl fence, then went down an embankment and hit a tree.
