Alicia Keys’ 4-Year-Old Son Was Concerned He Would Be Judged For Wearing Rainbow Nail Polish

Alicia Keys shared a special moment that she recently had with her four-year-old son, Genesis. In her video, the Grammy Award winning singer recalls their recent trip to the nail salon. During their bonding moment, Keys opens up on how heartbroken she was after learning her son felt the pressure of being judge at such a young age. She begins,

“The other day, I went to the nail salon with Genesis. He’s in the chair, and he’s like, I want rainbow. After he painted his nails, he looked at me and said, Mommy, I don’t want this on my nails. And I was like, why? You were so sure.”

She continues, adding how her four-year-old was afraid of being judged for his polish.

“He was like, ‘People are not going to like it.’ Can you believe this? Four years old, he’s four, and he already understands the concept that someone’s going to judge him because he chose rainbow colors on his nails.”

Afterward, the 38-year-old mother of two says she made sure to encourage her son to continue to express his creativity as many males love to paint their nails.

“Stick with it. You chose it. You liked it. You do it.

Soon after sharing, many sent words of encouragement for supporting her youngest son’s creativity including her husband and father to both children, Swizz Beats. He writes,

He’s a Young King and he can explore and express his creativity at anytime! We support it as his parents.”

Singer Melanie Fiona adds,

”This kid. This expression. This parenting. This thinking. THIS is the stuff that will change the world. For the better.”

So sweet!
