Nicki Minaj’s Mom Wants To Do A Gospel Collaboration With Her Daughter
While promoting her latest song “What Makes You,” Carol Maraj said she would love to team up with her award-winning daughter, Nicki Minaj, on a gospel song.
She says,
“I would love to do that one day. I think it would be gospel.”
She said
“I sang all the time when they were young. I would be doing my dishes and singing. When they heard me sing, they would just leave whatever they were doing upstairs and run down to the kitchen… I used to sing a lot of Diana Ross’s songs. They grew up hearing these oldies… Gladys Knight’s ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’, I used to sing songs like that.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Nicki hopped on a gospel track. She was also featured on gospel artist Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s “I’m Getting Ready” in 2017.
Maraj also dished on Nicki’s new union with her husband Kenneth Petty. Nicki and Petty tied the knot last month.
Maraj said she was “very happy” for Nicki and Petty. When asked if she got a chance to speak with Nicki before her big day Maraj said,
“She had been saying that she was gonna do something small, and then do something big within a year. My only thing was I just wanted her to get married. I’m really excited that she did.”
She also explained what she thinks makes
Nicki and Petty work.
“When I see them interact, they seem very happy to me.”
