Young Thug Speaks On His Near-Death Experience After Liver & Kidney Failure: I Felt Like My Whole Body Was Numb & I Couldn’t Move
Young Thug recently did an interview with Rolling Stone, and he opened up about a near-death experience he had towards the beginning of the pandemic.
During his interview, the rapper discussed the recent quarantine and his health. After speaking on his boredom during the pandemic, he touched on the heavier subject of a health scare he endured last year. Young Thug revealed:
“I kinda just stayed in the bed and I was like, ‘Yo, call the ambulance. I can’t move my body.’ Then later, when the ambulance came, I couldn’t get out of the bed. They had to get me out of the bed, basically. I felt like my whole body was numb and I couldn’t move. I went to the hospital and I had found out that I had liver and kidney failure. And I kinda had sorta passed away, like I kinda died.”
Young Thug first revealed his near-death experience during a live stream concert back in April. While the rapper didn’t reveal what caused his organ failure, Thugger proclaimed:
“Drugs aren’t good, don’t do drugs.”
In addition to discussing his health scare, Young Thug also spoke on how the pandemic shaped his views–as well as how he’s incorporating it into his upcoming album, Punk. The rapper stated:
“With Punk I tapped into more real world. I’m just rapping more about life situations, because I had time to sit down and actually reflect and think [during the pandemic].”
However, Thugger was clear about his disdain for being in quarantine, claiming:
“Prison is the worst thing, but being in the house not being able to do nothing — and you can die from air!?”
Despite this, video games ultimately helped Young Thug through the pandemic. He said:
“I done got so f***ing tied into video games… I talked to so many n***as on Call of Duty, s**t’s crazy. Just bored. ‘Hey, what’s up, what you got going, bro?'”
