Gabrielle Union To Sit Down With NBC Lawyers Over ‘Toxicity’ On ‘America’s Got Talent’, Still Won’t Be A Judge Next Season

Gabrielle Union’s alleged reason for being fired as a judge from NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” after one season could spark change with the show. While it hasn’t been confirmed, reports spread that Gabrielle Union was let go because she openly took issue with the alleged toxic work environment behind-the-scenes. She was also told that her hair was “too Black,” according to reports.

Now, an insider said that the chatter about Gabrielle Union’s firing has gotten the attention of the network and she’s set to meet with NBC’s lawyers this week to discuss what happened and why she was fired. The reason for the meeting is said to be to help the environment on the show. But Gabrielle Union still won’t be coming back as a judge. Still, it’s not clear if any staff from the network will actually be present.

The source told Deadline Monday (Dec. 2),

“Gabrielle believes there is a toxicity that has become normalized at Talent. She wants to help fix that, because she loved a lot of her time on the show last season, even with the issues with Simon and what have you. But she could never go back, even if they did a [180] and asked her to for another season — no.”

Gabrielle Union has also hired her own lawyer, Bryan Freedman after news of her firing went viral. Bryan Freedman is known for representing Megyn Kelly last year after she left NBC News.

Simon Cowell, who is the executive producer of the series, and his production company Syco, along with Fremantle released a joint statement Sunday (Dec. 1).
