Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Estranged Dad Speaks Out After His Two Year Sentencing: I Feel Glad That He’s Safe In There [VIDEO]
Tekashi 6ix9ine’s father has spoken out after the rapper was sentenced to two years in prison Wednesday (Dec. 18).
The rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was also given five years of a supervised release after he pleaded guilty to racketeering and other charges earlier this year. He’ll be in prison for another 11 months after getting credit for the 13 months he’s already spent behind bars.
Considering he was facing 47 years, his sentence was said to be heavily reduced because he took the stand and testified against several of his alleged Nine Trey Bloods gang members. Read more about the verdict here.
In a video obtained by celebrity blogger @ar16bx, his father, also named Daniel Hernandez, who allegedly hasn’t spoken to the rapper since he was in third grade, told reporters just after the sentencing,
“I feel glad that he’s safe in there. You know what I mean? Because there, nothing is gonna happen. Outside, they’re gonna try to kill… cause all the stuff that he was saying. You guys know, I don’t have to explain. It’s a scary situation. He’s a target, he’s a target. He can’t hide. His face his tattoos… He can’t go nowhere.”
When asked how he likes Tekashi 6ix9ine’s infamous tattoos, he said,
“I like em.”

Meanwhile, multiple reports say that Tekashi was shocked to see his estranged father in court. Tekashi reportedly said,
“Is this a f***ing joke, [with] everything that I go through?”
Tekashi’s dad attempted to take the stand before Judge Paul Engelmayer ruled on the sentencing, but the judge wasn’t having it. He reportedly said,
“It’s way too late to show up and speak on his behalf. You squandered that right many years ago.”
While they hadn’t seen one another since Tekashi’s mother allegedly kicked the father out, Tekashi’s father told The Post that he wanted to tell the rapper he loved him.
