Angela Simmons Clarifies Statements About Sexual Assault Allegations Against Russell Simmons: I Don’t Believe My Uncle Is Capable Of Being What The Media Is Saying
Angela Simmons took to social media to clarify statements she previously made about the sexual allegations her uncle Russell Simmons is facing.
She wrote on her Instagram stories Friday (Dec. 20),
“To be clear i don’t believe my uncle is capable of being what the media is saying…”
Earlier this week, Angela Simmons shared her thoughts on Oprah Winfrey reportedly doing a series about sexual assault in the music industry. According to reports, Russell Simmons’s allegedly inappropriate relationships will be discussed as one of his accusers is reportedly going to be featured.
Angela Simmons told BOSSIP of the special,
“I’m not ever gonna get in between what’s going on with people. I’m going to stand by my family. I’m not going to get in between all of that, it’s not my place. No one wants to see their family getting hurt. He has daughters.”
She added,
“My uncle knows what he’s done…but I don’t necessarily want to shine a light on that.”
Russell Simmons has denied all sexual assault allegations and called out Oprah Winfrey for doing the special shortly after news of it made headlines.

Russell is currently being sued for $10 million by a woman who claims he allegedly sexually assaulted her and threatened her son.
While Angela is standing by him, back in September he was banned from a yoga studio in New York City because his presence was said to have
“triggered some members.”
Russell moved to Bali amid the accusations, and despite being banned from the yoga studio, said he received warm welcomes upon his recent return to the states.
“My reception has been heartwarming. People wanted to throw dinners for me at their houses in the Hamptons ….. I went to a Southampton event and it was all the bankers — you could have blown up all the money in the world at one time — and not one person said anything negative to me.”
