Grammy nominated singer Lizzo has continued to be the topic of discussion regarding body image. In a recent interview, fitness expert Jillian Michaels was asked about her thoughts on Lizzo embracing her shape on Wednesday. Michaels says,
“I love her music, 100%. I don’t know anything about her personally. I’m sure she’s a cool, awesome chick…but why are we celebrating her body? Why does it matter? That’s what I’m saying. Like, why aren’t we celebrating her music? ‘Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes.”

Lizzo is known for showing off her body. In a recent interview, Lizzo said that she feels that it’s healthy to be in touch with your naked body. She tells TIME,
“I think it’s healthy to have a relationship with your naked body, even if no one ever sees it. But I’ve always felt the need to share it.”
When it comes to self-confidence and positivity, Lizzo says she isn’t new to this; she’s true to this.
“I’ve been doing positive music for a long-a** time. Then the culture changed. There were a lot of things that weren’t popular but existed, like body positivity, which at first was a form of protest for fat bodies and black women and has now become a trendy, commercialized thing. Now I’ve seen it reach the mainstream. Suddenly I’m mainstream!”
