Cardi B Supports Dwyane Wade’s Daughter’s Transition: “Let People Find Their Happiness!”
Cardi B is not only knowledgeable and involved in politics and the importance of voting, but she’s also a proud ally of the LGBTQ community. She, like the rest of the world, has been a witness to NBA retiree, Dwyane Wade‘s, and Gabrielle Union‘s support of their daughter Zaya Wade‘s (formerly, Zion Wade) transition.
The outspoken Grammy winner took to Instagram Live to discuss Zaya’s story with fans and followers. Cardi defended the Wades’ decision:
“I feel like a lot of people are forgetting that this is a 12-year-old kid- that before you say your opinions and everything like that, let’s not forget that this is a kid. Let’s not forget that this kid could be very, very sensitive. So that’s one. And let me tell you something, right- like, people are saying that this kid is too young to transition. But it’s like, how old is too young? If you’re born thinking you’re a girl in a boy’s body, how old do you have to be to keep knowing that that’s who you are? That’s who you are. That’s your identity. If that’s who you are, what is the age limit to know that’s what you want to be.”

She continued:
“…I seen a long 18-minute YouTube video on this long before the Zaya situation, about a 5-year-old little girl. She transitioned to be a girl, and she knew that’s what she wanted to be becasue she knew that! She likes to wear dresses, she likes to play with Barbies- and if you’re born like that, you’re going to forever be like that. And the age you pick it to be, that’s your choice.”

“There’s certain things that I always wanted to do when I was younger, right, and I started to do now. Now that I have money, I would say, ‘Wow, I wish I would’ve been learning how to do this. I wish I would’ve been knowing this and that. I would’ve been happy.’ What’s the point of you being older and then transitioning and being like, ‘D*mn, I should’ve been do this. I could’ve been found my happiness if I would’ve been doing it.’ Let people find they happiness. Especially kids! Let them feel comfortable!”
