Carmelo Anthony Recalls The Time Lebron James Saved His Life: “He Was Swimming With One Arm And Carrying Me In The Other Arm”
As we continue to focus on the importance of social-distancing, many celebrities are taking to Instagram live as a way to interact with their friends and Dwyane Wade is the latest to join in on the fun. On Friday, March 27th the 38-year-old retired NBA player was joined on his IG live by his long time friend and current Portland Trail Blazers player Carmelo Anthony. The two friends seemed to be enjoying themselves as they discussed everything from their favorite wine to the growth of their relationship.
“Our friendship has went from being friends but not talking as much to [us] talking damn near a couple [of] times a week now,” Carmelo said while on live with Dwyane.
“I like [our friendship] more now because it has nothing to do with actual basketball. It’s just more…we’re brothers, we’re friends, we’re family.”
In addition to talking about how their relationship has developed over time, Carmelo also shared the story of how basketball star Lebron James once saved him from drowning while the 3 friends were on vacation.
“I was still trying to see the last bit of the barracuda, snorkeling and all that,” the Blazers player said.
“It was my fault. I look up, the current is taking me to the middle of the ocean, like opposite from the boat … It was windy, all type of shit was going on through my head, I’ll be honest with you. Then I look up at the boat and I see ‘Bron jump off the boat like he is MacGyver. … He jumped off the boat into the water. He was bringing me back with one arm. He was swimming with one arm and carrying me in the other arm.”
