Sam Smith Renaming Album & Postponing Release Date
Singer Sam Smith has revealed his originally scheduled date set in early May for his third studio album, To Die For, has been pushed back due to the ongoing global health crisis.
On Monday (March 30th), the singer announced via Instagram that in light of the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, there will be a fresh, new title along with a rescheduled release date for the album. Smith announces:
“I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of the album and imminent release doesn’t feel right. So I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions.”

He adds the rescheduling of his album will be revealed at a later date.
“I will be renaming the album and pushing back the release date — both of which are to be confirmed at this time.”
The album had an original scheduled release date of May 1 for all streaming platforms. In addition, Smith reassured fans that before the year is over, the Grammy award winning singer will release his new music.
“There will be an album this year, I promise! But until then, I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months, which I’m incredibly excited about. Thank you for always being by my side and for you understanding and patience. I always want to do right by you. Always.”
Smith later posted a short video while appearing to be in his north London home in quarantine from the Coronavirus.

In the nearly four minute Instagram clip, Smith sang his “How Do You Sleep,” acappella. Before blessing the clip with his talented vocals, Smith says,
“Hope you are safe wherever you are and I just wanted to send this through to you guys and I hope this makes you feel better. Music is making me feel better right now.”
Smith’s third album is set to follow his hit 2014 Grammy winning LP In the Lonely Hour and 2017’s follow-up, The Thrill of It All.
Four official singles have been released from the album so far from the unreleased album including “Dancing with a Stranger” with Fifth Harmony’s Normani, “How Do You Sleep?,” “I Feel Love,” a cover of Donna Summer’s 1977 hit single and the previously mentioned track, “To Die For.”
