Mariah Carey Celebrates “The Emancipation of MiMi”
Mariah Carey is celebrating the release of her grammy award winning album “The Emancipation of MiMi.” It was released April 12th, 2005. The 50-year-old singer shared a social media video captioning it:
It’s a special occasion, Mimi’s Emancipation. I’m going to be celebrating the upcoming anniversary of The Emancipation of Mimi all week.
She also sang a rendition of her hit single “It’s Like That” producer by Jermaine Dupri.
The Emancipation of Mimi is Mariah Carey’s tenth studio album, released through Island Records.

It was considered Carey’s “comeback album” by critics and became her highest-selling release in the US in a decade. She collaborated with Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dogg, Twista, Nelly, Pharrell Williams, and James “Big Jim” Wright for the project.
