Retired NBA Star Stephen Jackson Says He Left His Ex Melissa “Imani” Showalter At The Altar After Prenup Dispute, She Responds: “He’s Lying!”

Former NBA star Stephen Jackson‘s life is a movie, and he doesn’t pass up any opportunities to tell his story – as he often does on his “All the Smoke” podcast with fellow NBA retiree, Matt Barnes. This time he took his storytelling skills to Instagram Live, where he detailed the time he passed on his wedding to the mother of his daughter, Melissa “Imani” Showalter, formerly of VH1’s “Basketball Wives: LA.” This is the reason Stephen Jackson gave for sharing why and how he allegedly left his ex at the altar that day in 2005:

“I share the game and my up’s and down’s with the youth, so they won’t make my same mistakes.”

Stephen Jackson began the story:

“…In order for a prenup to get drawn up, both the husband the wife, the bride and the groom have to agree on the prenup before it can even get written up…I told myself whoever I’m married to, they signing a prenup off top…So we get the prenup back at least 3-4 months before the wedding…me and her sat down and agreed upon the prenup…Now, it’s a month before the wedding and I’m like this is something we agreed on, I shouldn’t have to tell you to sign this prenup. This what I’m telling her. She’s like, ‘Ima sign it. Ima sign it. Ima sign it.’ During that time, we making arrangements for the wedding you still gotta plan sh*t. You know, I love her. And Ima keep it real with you, I was in love with her and we was building a family. So I was like cool, I ain’t gon make no big deal of it.”

He then says she made specific demands about their wedding:

“She is adamant about this certain pastor…I spent about $400,000 on the wedding, y’all. Pastor don’t matter to me. I just want to marry you. I don’t even give a d*mn. Now, we at two weeks before the wedding. Everything planned and ready to go. I’m like, ‘Look bruh why I got to keep asking you about this prenup. It ain’t like you don’t know what’s on it.’…This what I told her, ‘What motives you on?!’ ‘I ain’t on nothing, I just ain’t had time to sign it planning a wedding.'”

Stephen details their disastrous wedding:

“So, this the day of the wedding…in the back of mind, all I’m thinking about is this damn prenup…the preacher come in with his assistant and my nanny come in with a spooked look on her face. She pulls me to the side and she like, ‘She still ain’t signed it.’ So, I said, ‘I ain’t getting married then.’ Steph [Stephon Marbury] was like, ‘She ain’t sign the prenup, what we even here for?’ The preacher steps up, remember the preacher? He says ‘Hold on, now I know you love this girl. Don’t make a drastic decision. I think you should just let God handle it.’ I said, ‘Huh?’ He said, ‘As the pastor, I don’t believe in prenups.’ Now I know why she was fighting for you. You don’t believe in prenups. Damn what you believe in. I put everything in God’s hands and God is telling me to put the pen in her hand and make her sign this godd*mn prenup. That’s what God tellin me. So God tellin you and me two different things!…By that time it had got rowdy in the bridesmaids room. Bobby Valentino was standing up there, ready to start singing…Bobby Valentino will tell you this whole story…This is when she showed her true colors. So wedding off…We not doing it. We getting undressed. When we first get back to the room, I break down crying. Honest to God truth, I was hurt. I wanted to marry her, bruh. I break down crying for like twenty-thirty minutes. I’m hard down crying. I didn’t think a woman would take me to this point over a piece of paper. And we got a child together. I was honestly hurt.”

“So with all that going on, this ain’t even the half. At that point somebody from her side say she want to talk to you…Soon as I get in the room, she hard down crying. ‘I’ll sign it. I’ll sign it.’ Listen I was born at night but not last night. Anytime anybody signs anything where they’re crying, under any type of stress, that sh*t can get thrown out…Claim under distress that’s what it’s called.”

However, Melissa has an entirely different story than Stephen’s, and she brought receipts. She says the pre-nup was sent to her just two weeks before they were scheduled to tie the knot:

“Please look at the date sent…. 2 weeks before the wedding (not the 3-4 months you lied about on live this morning) and also take note of who was copied…. I’m assuming that’s who sat down with attorneys. Keep lying but I got receipts. YOU never had even had the conversation with me about wanting me to sign a prenup and wouldn’t even call the lawyers back trying to avoid disappointing your momma. Keep it 100 for once #Receipts #ALieDontCareWhoTellIt #FakeNews #YouAintGottaLieToKickIt #Fakest”RealN*gga”IKnow”

She, then, shared a copy of the prenup in which she wrote more stipulations in out of fear she and their daughter would go hungry again. Melissa’s caption read:

“@iammelissaimani And yes I did sign after hand writing some things in because I didn’t know what was in that mysterious prenup that I got 1 hour before walking down the isle. I didn’t ask for much because I had trust and was blinded by love. I asked for bare minimum. I asked for allowance so I wound be at your mercy because you’ve dogged me before and left me for dead and me and your child had to sleep on a couch and my girlfriend had to send me money to feed your child. I asked for a house Incase you choose to throw me and the kids on the street as you had done numerous times and I had to ask a girlfriend who was armed to come with me for you to even allow me back in to get me and my kids clothes. I requested NO MORE kids because YOU asked for these kids and by this time I had seen What kind of father you were and didn’t want to have anymore children with you! I asked that you stop cheating because after having 2 babies on me I’d had enough. And finally I asked to have legal representation at a later date to look at the prenup at a later date to make sure it would be 2 sided. Period. Keep lying to you fans who have no clue how evil you are but leave me alone. I have nothing but time (quarantined and bored) and receipts (yes I’m petty and pay for extra cloud storage to hold receipts of everything because I know I need proof to discount your lies against me) I have every text email legal doc that has ever been sent. If I can put my hands on something from 15 years ago like that just think of all the shit I haven’t shown. I’ve been respectful and quiet to cover and protect not just you but my kids… but my patience is wearing thin. Please just leave me alone. #YouAintGottaLieToKickIt”

Yikes! Whose side are you taking: Stephen Jackson’s or Melissa “Imani” Showalter’s?
