Young Black Man, Robert Fuller’s Death Ruled A Suicide After He Was Found Hanging From A Tree
Update #2: The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department has determined that Robert Fuller’s tragic death was a suicide. Sheriff Alex Villanueva and Cmdr. Chris Marks came to that ruling after interviews with social workers, family and medical records. Fuller allegedly had history with mental illness and self-harm. According to reports, he had been admitted to hospitals in Nevada, Arizona and California after trying to cause harm to himself multiple times.
The medical examiner-coroner also said that there was no “significant trauma” to his neck and limbs. He said that factor, along with “the existence of evidence of prior suicidal ideation and a history of mental health issues” is what they considered while coming to their ruling.
The attorney for Fuller’s family has vowed to get an independent autopsy done. Those results have not been made public yet. A private investigator is also looking into Fuller’s last hours.
Original Story: A community in L.A. County is pushing for answers after a young black man named Robert Fuller, 24, was sadly found hanging from a tree.
Robert Fuller was reportedly found in Palmdale, Calif., roughly 60 miles from Los Angeles, and was said to be dead by the time the fire department arrived. The city said in a statement that it was an
alleged death by suicide.
It added that this has been a tragic pattern since the onset of the coronavirus.
Sadly, it is not the first such incident since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The city remains committed to addressing mental health issues during these difficult times. We are in this together.
Members of the community who attended a meeting after the incident pushed for footage of what happened, but one city official said it wasn’t caught on tape. The Sheriff’s Department said an autopsy will be released soon.
Still, a petition is pushing for further investigation and shuts down speculation that Robert Fuller took his own life.
The petition on Change.org reads,
According to Lt. Brandon Dean of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau, Robert Fuller body was found around 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, with a rope around his neck, hanging from a tree.
Dean said all indicators point to a suicide but that investigators are waiting for full autopsy results and information from the man’s next of kin regarding past issues with mental illness.
Our hearts break for the grieving family, friends and loved ones and we urge that their privacy please be respected.
It continues,
It is evident that Robert did not commit suicide. He was found hung from a tree right outside city hall. This is a clear case of intimidation by White Supremacists to show their distain for Black Lives Matter movement, the protests to demand change for racial equality and police brutality reform.
We demand a thorough and transparent investigation by Palmdale PD, providing ALL video surveillance from city hall & the surrounding buildings/area, the night Robert Fuller was lynched. This was not a case of suicide but murder; to find the persons responsible for his lynching and justice for Robert Fuller and his family.
#JusticeForRobertFuller
BLACK LIVES MATTER!
As of Saturday morning (June 13th), the petition had more than 108,000 signatures.
Kim Kardashian West has taken to Twitter to support the petition and push for an investigation.

Prayers for Robert Fuller’s family, friends and loved ones!
