Saweetie Samples Too Short’s “Blow the Whistle” In “Tap In” [VIDEO]

Saweetie Channels Too Short’s “Blow the Whistle” In New Music Video For “Tap In”

Rapper Saweetie samples a hometown Bay Area classic for her latest track called, “Tap In”. The track samples Too Short’s legendary 2006 record, “Blow the Whistle.” This week, Saweetie released the video directed by Mike Ho.

In the record and video, Saweetie delivers raunchy lyrics and a catchy hook to match the energy of the record. The single is taken from her upcoming album Pretty Bitch Music, which is scheduled to drop sometime later this year.

The 26-year-old artist brought the Bay Area to the screen as she and dancers twerk in matching cheerleading outfits and playful ponytails.

In a recent interview with Apple Music, Saweetie opened up on Too Short’s reaction to “Tap In.” She says,

“I was like, ‘What if he doesn’t like it?’ But then he liked it, so I’m just excited. I’m so happy that he loves it. I’m so excited for this record. I’ve been gone for a year, but I really had to focus on my artist development because that was something that I was struggling with.”

The ICY girl discussed her new project stating:

“I’m really excited for this, because for all of my other projects, it was only like six or seven songs, but for this one, it’s like 15 and more. I feel like it’s just more personal, in the sense of, maybe I show my personality more. I’m more comfortable and you can hear it in my voice.”

Since going double platinum with “My Type” which famously sampled Petey Pablo’s “Freek-a-Leek” and her breakthrough single “Icy Girl” which used Khia’sMy Neck, My Back,” Saweetie has definitely found her lane in music.

Pretty B*tch Music follows the rapper’s 2019’s Icy EP, with Saweetie noting that the usage of “b*tch” in the title as an acronym: Boss, Independent, Tough, CEO, Hyphy.
