Nene Leakes Rep Says She Has No Parts In Discrimination Lawsuit Against Bravo, Amid Stalled ‘RHOA’ Contract Negotiations
There is allegedly a discrimination lawsuit coming against the Bravo network, but a rep for RHOA star Nene Leakes, wants clarify that Nene Leakes has no parts of the suit. The rep for the reality star says,
“NeNe is in no way ramping up to file suit or any type of legal action against Bravo at this time, nor is she “teaming up” with other women of color who might be considering such a move. Any notion to the contrary simply isn’t true.”
Last month a petition calling for viewers to boycott Bravo surfaced online. The petition says that it’s “putting Bravo on notice” for its alleged malice treatment of two of its black stars NeNe Leakes and Mariah Huq
“Both ladies have been greatly disrespected, under appreciated and devalued right before our eyes. While this network has several African American talents, it is these two who have played significant and pivotal roles in the networks ongoing success. In the case of Mariah Huq, she is the only African American female show creator, executive producer and lead cast member. While this is a historical step, even this would not have come to fruition but for the contributions of NeNe Leakes within this network.”
It continues:
“NeNe has cleared a path for “reality stars” to segue way into the acting world and having “actors and musicians” flock to the reality world. So much so a network executive has stepped down to become talent on a show that was also a creative contribution from NeNe Leakes. NeNe has given so much to this network only to be devalued when it comes to other opportunities within the network in comparison to non black talent. Such as show development opportunities, spin offs, creative control and executive producing options. We have witnessed her sacrifice her physical health, have her mental health jeopardized, and her spiritual well-being tested. It is also evident that your disciplinary actions are far more stringent when it comes to your black talent. This is not acceptable and needs to be more balanced.”
The petition also states:
“Bravo we the fans are aware of our power and how a lack of our viewership would be a detriment to the future success of said network. Fans we ask that you sign this petition and stand in support of equality for NeNe and Mariah as well as all African American talent on this network.”
In an exclusive interview with Married To Medicine star Mariah Huq, she said that she also has not received a contract and had plans to sue the network.
