SZA Confirms That She Did Date Drake, After He Revealed Their Secret Relationship On New Track: Nothing Underage Or Creepy Was Happening
Update #1 (Oct. 5th): SZA has responded to Drake’s comments about them allegedly dating. She confirms that the pair did date, but not in 2008, but a year later in 2009. She tweets:
So It was actually 2009 lol .. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace
She continues,
I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago .
Original Story: Drake dropped the bombshell that he used to date “The Weekend” singer SZA, but it looks like she might not have wanted that to be public knowledge.
Drake rapped about their alleged history in 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s “Mr. Right Now,” which was released Friday (Oct. 2) and said:
“Yeah, said she wanna f*** to some SZA, wait/’Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.”
Shortly after, SZA has unfollowed Drake on Instagram, but he still follows her.
