RuPaul & Cory Booker Discover They Are Cousins After Ancestry Test

Have you ever had a doppelganger or someone who looks similar in appearance to you? Well, what happens when you find out you and that person are actually related?

This much is true for Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.), 51, and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” host RuPaul Charles, 59. The two are actually cousins.

How did they end up making the discovery? RuPaul appeared in the latest season of the PBS series “Finding Your Roots”. The show analyzes DNA codes to trace celebrities’ connections and ancestry.

After taking a look at RuPaul’s genetics, it was revealed he and Cory Booker, who was on Season 1 of the series, share a long stretch of identical DNA. RuPaul also found out he was 70% African and 30% European.

When finding out the news RuPaul said:

“He looks like my kin.”

He followed up with:

“There’s a sweetness about him that I’ve always loved and an intellect that is undeniable. But every time I’ve ever seen him, he reminds me of my cousin Yula.”

Cory Booker himself also responded to the news on The Wendy Williams Show.

He said he shared the news to everyone in his inner circle, saying:

“So yeah, my mom knows, I just, I love RuPaul, and I haven’t had a chance to talk to him since the news was revealed but I was very happy about that news and I hope that he and I can have a family reunion sometime.”

Prior to finding out the two were related, Booker made an appearance on RuPaul’s show.
