Mark Cuban Shares Update On Delonte West: It’s An Uphill Battle But He’s Still Climbing!

Former NBA player Delonte West is trending on social media after Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban shared a positive update on his progress.

As previously reported, Delonte West had been spotted several times on the street, seemingly panhandling for money. In September, a social media user posted a photo of West in North Dallas which prompted several parties to try to contact him to help, including Mark Cuban.

Shortly after Mark Cuban found Delonte West, NBA sports reporter Shams Charania tweeted:

“Mark Cuban reached out to Delonte West’s mother, Delphina Addison, asking how he can help. Answer was simple: Find Delonte. Cuban did on Monday, waited with West until his mother arrived to hotel, and West finally took step many close to him have awaited: Entered rehab.”

Now, just over a month of rehabilitation, Mark Cuban took to Twitter Tuesday (Nov. 2nd) to share the good news about West’s journey along with a couple of photos, showing West seemingly thriving.  He expressed,

“Because we all want something to feel great about today, here is your Delonte West update.  It’s still an uphill battle, but he is climbing!

The news sparked both positive and negative feedback on Twitter.  One social media user wrote,

This dude made over $10MM in his career and burned through it all and now gets special privileges LOL. What about those everyday struggling Americans, Mr. Cuban?

Mark Cuban, an angel investor who many have come to know from the popular show, Shark Tank, responded with an explanation.  He wrote:

Most of the people I help dont have a public personae . They don’t have fans that are worried about them. They have family who worry about them and I deal directly with them. I posted this because Delonte wants his fans to know he is making progress.
