Lil Kim Wants Teyana Taylor To Play Her In A Biopic: There’s Nobody Else In The Industry At All

It looks like Teyana Taylor is a hot commodity when it comes to portraying iconic musicians for their biopics.

Just weeks after legendary singer Dionne Warwick said she wanted the singer and actress to play her in a biopic, Lil Kim is singing the same tune. In fact, Lil Kim said Teyana Taylor is the only celebrity she would give the green light to.

During an interview with Essence, she teased an upcoming project about her life.

“It’s dealing with me and my life a little bit, kinda.”

She added that more details would be shared publicly within the next month. Ideally, Lil Kim said she wants to have a movie and documentary about her life so people can “know the real Kim.”

She added,

“All the other stories that everybody else tells, chile, don’t listen to it.”

She said she would play herself at the end of the film, and tapped Teyana Taylor as the only fitting celebrity to portray her in her younger days. She added that she would love for an unknown actress to play her as well.

“It can only be a girl that’s from the hood that I’m from. I love Teyana, she’s my only other thought. There’s nobody else in the industry at all but Teyana. But, even before Teyana — I love Teyana, but she’s from Harlem –before Teyana, I would love to give some little girls from Brooklyn a chance so I can connect. Really connect.”

Teyana Taylor wouldn’t be the first person to play Lil Kim. Power star Naturi Naughton infamously took on the role for the 2009 film Notorious. But Lil Kim has made it clear in the past she wasn’t a fan of the portrayal.

She previously said,

“Yeah, no. No. I hate that movie. To me it was like a spoof. It was something that I would have never approved. I didn’t like who played me. No. No, no, no, no.”

Between Lil Kim and Dionne Warwick, Teyana Taylor is set after announcing her retirement from music last year.
