Tina Turner’s ‘Revealing’ & ‘Intimate’ Docu To Premiere On HBO In March
Tina Turner’s story is slated to be told via a brand new documentary, heading for HBO this spring.
The project, simply called Tina, was first announced at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018.
Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin will direct while Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn of Whitney, will produce.
A press release says Tina is:
“a revealing and intimate look at the life and career of musical icon Tina Turner, charting her improbable rise to early fame, her personal and professional struggles throughout her life and her even more improbable resurgence as a global phenomenon in the 1980s.”
It will feature a:
“wealth of never-before-seen footage, audio tapes and personal photos, telling a deep and absorbing story about the queen of rock ‘n’ roll in all its complexity.”
Tina Turner, who is currently nominated for induction into the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, will also appear in the special along with Angela Bassett, who portrayed the singer in the classic film What’s Love Got To Do With It?

Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey, journalist Kurt Loder, and Tina Turner’s husband of seven years Erwin Bach will also speak on the legendary singer in the documentary.
Tina premieres on HBO on March 27 at 8/7c.
