Terry Crews Says Overcoming Porn Addiction Isn’t About ‘Willpower’: It’s Literally A Lack Of Information Issue
Years after battling porn addiction, actor and TV personality Terry Crews is discussing how he overcame it.
While on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his audio memoir Stronger Together earlier this week, the late-night talk show host asked him if he misses watching porn.
Terry Crews said,
“Not anymore — there were times when I did. I’m good now!”
He explained,
“But I have to tell you this, with porn and with alcohol, people think it’s a willpower issue, but it’s not. It’s literally a lack-of-information issue. Once you know what it does, once you really realize, once you start to understand – the trick is, you think it’s great. Everything works for you until it doesn’t, and that was one of the things I really wanted to get out…”
Terry Crews has been extremely open about his past struggles. He and his wife Rebecca Crews appeared on OWN’s Black Love series in 2019. He said that he struggled with his addiction before meeting her, adding:
“I felt like once I get married, that’ll go away.”
Rebecca Crews said he “downplayed” his addiction once they met, making her think it went away. Terry Crews revealed instead, he “learned how to go underground.”
Ultimately, he was able to overcome his addiction.
