R. Kelly Associate Pleads Guilty to Setting His Ex-Girlfriend Azriel Clary’s Car On Fire
R. Kelly Associate Pleads Guilty to Setting His Ex-Girlfriend Azriel Clary’s Car On Fire
Azriel Clary, an ex-girlfriend of controversial former R&B singer R. Kelly, finally has some answers regarding the fiery destruction of her car. In June 2020, Azriel Clary claimed that an unknown individual set her car ablaze and attempted to do the same to her home. She wrote,
“Someone not only set my car on fire at 3am but they also made a gas line around my entire house, with intentions to burn my entire home down. It was something that was premeditated, but the fact that someone would go to that extreme to harm me is sickening.”
However, the unknown arsonist’s identity has been revealed as Michael Williams, a known associate of R. Kelly. On April 19th, Michael Williams admitted to setting Azriel Clary‘s car on fire in an attempt to silence her by way of intimidation. He reportedly did so because, in addition to Clary being romantically linked to R. Kelly, she is also reportedly a witness to some of his criminal misdeeds.
As a result of a plea deal, Michael Williams is being charged with one count of arson and the witness tampering charge has been dropped.
However, R. Kelly’s lawyer–Steve Greenburg–disputes the accusation of his connection to Michael Williams, tweeting:
“This is irresponsible to call this an RKelly associate. They have never met or spoken. Kelly had NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM OR HIS CRIME”
Clary has not publicly addressed the verdict against Williams.
As previously reported, R. Kelly has his own upcoming trial in regards to accusations of sex-trafficking and racketeering. He is due in New York City for court this upcoming August.
