George Bush Swoons Over His Friendship With Michelle Obama, Says They Bond Over Cracking Jokes
Michelle Obama and George Bush are exemplifying a bipartisan friendship that puts their personalities over political affiliation.
Well known for their friendliness at various social and political events, former president George Bush elaborated on his friendship with former first lady Michelle Obama on a Wednesday night (April 21st) episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In the interview, George Bush elaborates on how he and Michelle Obama came to share the bond that they have. He states:
“I go to a lot of funerals, and so does she. Because of protocol, I’m always stuck next to her–or, she’s always stuck next to me. And I get a little antsy during the long-winded eulogies, so I start cracking a few jokes–funeral jokes. And she seems to think they’re funny, so I’m delighted!”
As you may recall, the pair have been seen exchanging hugs and mints at various different engagements over the years–and the internet has not stopped obsessing over Bush and Obama‘s friendship ever since.
This is not the first time Bush has addressed his friendship with Obama to media outlets.
During an interview with CBS News, Bush shared his initial reaction to the public response to the pair’s friendship:
“I was shocked… The American people were so surprised that Michelle Obama and I could be friends.”
Our 44th FLOTUS also spoke on her friendship with Bush during an interview with his daughter, Jenna Bush-Hager, on Today. Obama stated:
“Our values are the same. We disagree on policy, but we don’t disagree on humanity. We don’t disagree on love and compassion.”
