Meghan McCain Confirms She’s Leaving ‘The View’ After 4 Seasons

Meghan McCain Confirms She’s Leaving ‘The View’ After 4 Seasons
Update #2 (July 1st): Meghan McCain has confirmed reports that she’s leaving The View. She said on today’s (July 1st) show,
“This is going to be my last season here at The View. I will be here through the end of July to finish out the season. This was not an easy decision. It took a lot of thought and counsel and prayer and talking to my family and my close friends.”
Meghan McCain joined The View in 2017. She is currently in her fourth season.
She continued and said COVID-19 was a gamechanger for her as she loves living in Washington, D.C. with her husband Ben Domenech and their daughter Liberty, who turns one in September.

She added,
“I feel like this is just the right decision for me at this moment, and I just want to thank all of you. I’m eternally grateful to have had this opportunity here. So seriously, thank you from the absolute bottom of my heart, and I will still be here a month, so if you guys want to fight a little bit more, we have four more weeks!”
Amid news of her exit, an insider told Page Six that the network begged Meghan McCain to stay on board, considering her contract isn’t up for two more years.
“ABC begged for her to stay [and] she said ‘No — I’m done! I’m not staying anymore.'”
They added that ABC
“even offered a contributor role on ABC News, which she turned down. She’s just had enough. She doesn’t need it anymore — she really doesn’t need it.”
Original Story: Meghan McCain is reportedly leaving The View at the end of the month.
The conservative talk show co-host will reportedly announce her resignation on today’s (July 1st) show, a source for ABC’s parent company Disney told Daily Mail.
While she has been with the show for four seasons, she reportedly still has two years left on her contract, so it’s not clear why she’s allegedly gearing up to leave.
The insider added that her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro “are not yet aware that Meghan has resigned.”
They continued,
“We have tried to keep her, but she is adamant that now is the right time for her to leave. She will finish at the end of July 2021.”
During her time on The View, and especially in recent months, Meghan McCain has sparked controversy and conversation during heated exchanges with some of her co-hosts.
Last month, things between her and Whoopi Goldberg got tense during a conversation about Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Whoopi saluted Joe Biden for apologizing after being short-tempered with a reporter, as she claimed Donald Trump wouldn’t have done the same. See their moment below.

In May, it was reported that her and Joy Behar’s heated exchange over anti-semitism on The View caught the attention of new ABC News president Kim Godwin.

Kim Godwin was reportedly so concerned about the back and forth that she called a last-minute meeting with the daytime talk show’s co-hosts and producers in an effort to improve the behind-the-scenes culture, according to TMZ.
Meghan McCain reportedly stormed out of the meeting because she felt like she was being “attacked.”
The network also reportedly received an overflow of messages for Meghan McCain to be fired.
Still, she could simply be leaving for personal reasons as she just welcomed her first child, daughter Liberty, less than a year ago.
