‘Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City’ Star Jen Shah’s Lawyer Withdraws From Her Fraud Case Weeks Ahead Of Trial

The legal team for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah had a major shakeup as she fights fraud charges that could get her 50 years behind bars.

Her now-former attorney Daniel Alonso told the court he was leaving the case, according to documents obtained by Radar Online. He works for Buckley LLP, which is known for representing A-list celebrities like Johnny Depp. He added that his colleagues Henry Ashbill and Michael Chu will be leaving the case as well.

He said Jen Shahwho starred in season one of the hit Bravo series, found new lawyers on her own. She recently retained Priya Chaudhry, who’s the head of a boutique law firm.

Chaudhry’s website says she has

“handled criminal matters from the most sophisticated white-collar cases to homicide. Ms. Chaudhry also represents individuals in regulatory proceedings.”

It’s not clear why Alonso and his team are leaving before her trial starts on Oct. 18, but he said he won’t take legal action against the reality star for unpaid hours. Instead, he added that he just hopes to be removed from the case ASAP and will gladly get “Ms. Chaudhry and her team up for speed.”

Jen Shah and her personal assistant were charged for allegedly participating in a telemarketing scam. Shah’s alleged role was to find victims to take advantage of and create a list of leads to issue to the telemarketing firm, prosecutors claim. She in turn allegedly received a portion of the profit.

She has maintained her innocence and said she’s being targeted because of her new celebrity status.

Meanwhile, she’s still filming for season two of RHOSLC, so it looks like her legal issues will play out on the show.
