Matthew McConaughey Does Not Wear Deodorant And Co-Stars Say He Does Not Have An Odor

Recently celebrities have been confessing their shower and hygiene routines for themselves and their children.

Due to this, Matthew McConaughey, who shared in his 2005 People’s Sexiest Man Alive interview that he doesn’t wear deodorant, has returned to the forefront of the conversation.

When asked what should a man smell like, Matthew McConaughey said,

“A man,” he replied at the time. “I haven’t worn deodorant in 20 years.”

Yvette Nicole Brown, who co-starred with McConaughey in Tropic Thunder, shared what the 51-years-old Dallas Buyers Club star smelled like saying,

“I remember that Matthew McConaughey said that he did not use deodorant and that he didn’t have an odor. So my first thought is, ‘I’m going to get as close as I can to him to see if he’s right,

She continued,

“He did not have an odor. He smells like granola and good living,” she shared. “He has a sweet, sweet scent that is just him and it’s not musty or crazy.”

She also added,

“I believe he bathes because he smells delicious. He just didn’t have deodorant on. Those that don’t bathe, I don’t understand.”

The topic of celebrity hygiene was sparked after acting couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis admitted they only bathe their kids when they can see dirt on them. During the July episode of Armchair Expert podcast Kutcher also added,

“I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever. I got a bar of Lever 2000 that delivers every time. Nothing else.”

Following their interview, more celebrities began sharing their stance on bathing. Jake Gyllenhall said,

“More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times.”

While Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said,

“Nope, I’m the opposite of a ‘not washing themselves’ celeb,”

He continued,

“Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work. Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower Soap Multiple musical notes.”
