T.I. Defends Lizzo Against The Fat-Phobic Comments She Receives

Rapper and actor, T.I. took to his Instagram today (8/23), to defend and support singer and rapper Lizzo, who has recently experienced “fat-phobic” comments via social media.

In his video he said,

“I had another message man. And this message was, I’ve been meaning to say it for a few days, I just ain’t got to it but it was about Lizzo, and what I saw Lizzo going through. Umm, I saw her message where she was upset about something that people, things that people had to say about her and stuff, and how she was receiving the messaging from the public.”

He continued,

“Bro! My message to Lizzo, I don’t know Lizzo personally. Listen sweetheart, you are beautiful, you are talented, you are good enough for all the great things that the world has to offer, and don’t wait for nobody out there in the public to validate that bruh. Don’t do that. Because their perception of you has more to do with them than it does with you.”

Lizzo, who recently teamed up with Cardi B for her new single Rumors, tearfully took to Instagram live on Aug. 15th to discuss the hate she has received following the release of the single’s video.

In the video she said,

“People say s**t about me that doesn’t even make sense. It’s fatphobic, it’s racist, and it’s hurtful–if you don’t like my music, cool. If you don’t like ‘Rumors’ the song, cool. But a lot of people don’t like me because of the way I look.”

As his video continued, the Atlanta based rapper added,

“All these people who be out here who have negative things to say, that’s because they feel negatively about themselves. Them speaking negatively about you, or me, or anyone else bruh has more to do with them than it does with you. Man please don’t wait on them to give you the okay to be happy. Please do not wait on them to give you the okay to be satisfied with yourself, your accomplishments, your achievements.”

T.I., who has made headlines this year along with his wife, Tiny for sexual assault allegations, has never shied away from expressing his opinion.

He went on to say,

“Bruh, F*** them people man! F*** what people say, I’m talking bout f*** ’em bruh. F*** ’em you hear me? F*** ’em. They should have no jurisdiction or no hold on your life. They shouldn’t. Because if you big, they gonna say you too big. I’ve been called skinny, they called me skinny. If you light-skin, you too light-skin, if you dark-skin, you too black, you know what I’m saying? If your hair is short, you bald headed. If you grow your hair out, you need to do something with your hair. It’s always something bruh. It’s always something. They will never be satisfied. They will never be satisfied.”

Before T.I. and Tiny’s daughter Heriess took over the video with her infectious singing, he added,

“But man, Lizzo, anybody like Lizzo. Anybody going through the same thing she’s going through bruh, don’t pick up your phone and look in your comments and expect strangers off the internet, who got they own s*** they trying to bare with, and deal with, go through, you know what I’m saying, they got their own thang they trying to deal with and that’s what’s causing them to deal with you a certain way.”

He continued,

“So stop looking for people to be satisfied or to be okay with what you are doing bruh. You have to believe in yourself enough to know that whatever you’re saying man, it needs to be said. Whatever you’re doing, it needs to be done. Because if it didn’t need to be done, if it didn’t need to be said, the universe wouldn’t put it on your heart, and give you the notion to do it. So, I think that’s my message man.”

Before his video ended, the 40-year-old rapper asked his followers to tag and send his video to Lizzo. He added,

“I think she’s talented, I think she’s dope, I think she’s beautiful and whatever she got going on, that s*** working bruh. Keep doing it! Whatever it is, keep doing it! When people start talking bad that’s how you know it’s working. Keep going, keep pushing!”

Lizzo has yet to respond to T.I.’s message.
