Tina Lawson Defends Beyoncé Against Criticism For Posing W/ Exclusive 1877 Tiffany’s Diamond: How Many Of You Socially Conscious Activists Own Diamonds?
Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Lawson, is defending her against criticism she’s received for wearing an iconic Tiffany’s diamond. As previously reported, news recently broke that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are the new faces of Tiffany & Co.
In a promotional photoshoot for the couple’s new business venture, they are posing in front of a never-before-seen Jean-Michel Basquiat painting while Beyoncé rocks an exquisite Tiffany’s diamond. According to reports, Beyoncé is the 1st black woman, 4th person overall, to wear the yellow 128.54 carat diamond.
The diamond was originally found in South Africa in 1877. Since the release of the promotional images, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have received some criticism for being featured with the yellow diamond that was reportedly stolen from its homeland.
However, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Lawson doesn’t agree with the ‘socially conscious activists’ that are calling out her daughter and son-in-law. Under theGrio’s Instagram post sharing criticism against Beyoncé’s actions she wrote,
“How many of you socially conscious activist own diamonds ? I thought so ! Well guess what did you go to try to check to see where the diamond came from? Probably not ! So when you guys get engaged you won’t have a diamond you gonna put on a sterling silver band And you better check out where it came from and the origin of where came from and why you add it check out the calls for the Leather that you weird because they made it came from another country to ban and not buy diamonds right because your righteous !!”
