R. Kelly Accuser Claims She Was Forced To Write Letters Accusing Her Parents Of Extorting Money From The Singer
As R. Kelly‘s trial continues, more and more allegations of his controlling behavior are coming to light.
Yesterday (Wednesday, Aug. 25th), one of R. Kelly‘s accusers took the witness stand in order to address a series of letters she wrote to her parents while she was with the disgraced singer. Because the alleged victim defended R. Kelly and chastised her parents in the letters, they were introduced by the defense as evidence. One letter addressed to the woman’s father read:
“You decided to join in to get some money. None of you gave interviews for free.”
In another letter, the alleged victim accused her mother of extorting money from R. Kelly. According to the letter, the woman’s mother told R. Kelly:
“You need to send $10,000 to this bank account every month [since you’re sleeping with my daughter].”
Finally, a third letter to her brother contained additional accusations that her parents were trying to sabotage R. Kelly‘s career:
“They were trying to set [R. Kelly] up. Brother, I’m telling you the truth, I cannot make this up. My own parents were using me and my vagina to get money… They were going to destroy R. Kelly’s career.”
However, once the defense finished their line of questioning, the witness revealed to the prosecution that R. Kelly made her write the letters and told her what to include. The prosecution also speculated that R. Kelly had the woman write the letters to discredit any potential abuse claims or legal action.
