‘Bridgerton’ Star Regé-Jean Page One Of The Top Contenders To Star As James Bond After Daniel Craig’s Final Upcoming Role
Could Regé-Jean Page be the next James Bond?
Yesterday (Thursday, Aug. 26th), reports began circulating that Bridgerton actor Regé-Jean Page was one of the lead contenders to take on the role of James Bond. Currently, Daniel Craig stars as James Bond in the eponymous film franchise. However, Daniel Craig–who has played James Bond since 2006’s Casino Royale–is slated to wrap up his longstanding role after the release of No Time to Die, which premieres later this year.
With Daniel Craig leaving the James Bond franchise soon, producers are looking at who will be the next star to play the iconic role. Reportedly, production insiders claim that Regé-Jean Page is a top contender to take over after Daniel Craig. However, actors Henry Cavill and George MacKay are also allegedly being looked at for the James Bond role. An insider stated:
“They are talking about Regé, but Bond producers are not making any decisions until after No Time to Die is released. They are focusing on Daniel Craig’s big finale. But Henry Cavill also is still in the running, he’s a lot more famous now than when his name first came up. One other name is George MacKay. One of the producers of 1917 has come over to Bond and is suggesting George. There is some talk about rebooting the Bond franchise after Daniel Craig with someone younger, and he could fit the bill.”
While the producers have a few names in mind, it doesn’t look like they’ll be making any definitive decisions until Daniel Craig‘s final role in the franchise is complete. Regardless, it sounds like Regé-Jean Page still has a good chance of becoming the next James Bond!
However, it is worth noting that Regé-Jean Page previously claimed he had no plans to star as James Bond. Idris Elba was also previously speculated to take on the role, though he denied this back in 2018.
