DJ Envy Explains Why He Called Kanye West ‘A Clown’, Says Rapper’s Close Friends Think He’s ‘Uncontrollable’
Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ was released over the weekend and many fans and critics alike have been listening. However, DJ Envy had some choice words for the 43-year-old rapper. He called out Kanye West on The Breakfast Club yesterday (Aug. 30) and said,
“You are a clown and the people around you are clowns if they don’t check you.”

He went further to say that Kanye West is being enabled by the people around him and if his entourage doesn’t check him they’re just as toxic. DJ Envy also began to reveal why it’s almost impossible for friends of Kanye West to keep him under control.
On today’s Breakfast Club (Aug. 31),he said he talked with some of Kanye’s friends about the comments he made. They told DJ Envy,
“When you’re dealing with somebody that has emotional problems, bipolar, and things like that, you can’t necessarily control him. It’s uncontrollable.”
Kanye West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016 and has been very vocal about his diagnosis. DJ Envy went on to say that Kanye’s friends don’t agree with the rapper all the time but there’s virtually nothing they can do about it.
“Some of the things that he does is foul but they said they can’t control that man.”
He then apologized to the people trying to help Kanye but his stance on the Grammy award-winning rapper is not changing.
“ I get it and me calling ya clowns was foul but I still think Kanye is a clown for the things that he does.”
Co-host, Angela Yee then chimes in on the complexities of dealing with someone with bipolar disorder.
“If you ever had to deal with someone who is bipolar and not taking their medication it is not an easy thing to do. If you love them you try to help and be around but it..it is hard to control a person. You can’t.”
