R. Kelly Trial Witness Alleges Singer Paid $200K To Settle Former STD Lawsuit
As the R. Kelly trial continues, more information about the singer’s alleged affairs is coming to light.
On Friday (9/3), a witness testified that R.Kelly paid her $200,000 to settle the suit in which she accused the artist of giving her herpes without informing her that she had it.
Testifying during the third week of Kelly’s sex trafficking case, the witness, who was 27-years-old at the time, alleged that she met the singer through a friend back in 2001. She claims she informed him that she was worried about catching STD’s after they started having sex and when she asked him to use protected she said,
“He just said ‘no.'”
This is the second time that jurors got to hear from witnesses that the ‘I Believe I Can Fly‘ singer allegedly gave them herpes. Earlier in the trial, which started on Aug. 18, two other witnesses testified that R. Kelly allegedly gave them herpes as well.
Although Kelly is not being charged with a crime connected to the witnesses, reportedly prosecutors are using their testimony to add to his case of having and leading a ‘criminal enterprise’ that sexually exploited women, underage girls, and even boys.
Yesterday, R.Kelly, 54, made headlines alongside Drake, after it was revealed that his song, ‘Half on a Baby’ was sampled on Drake’s new album, ‘Certified Lover Boy.’
Due to Kelly’s past and current issues, many have called for the cancelation of his music and its use.
Kelly, who has been in jail since 2019 awaiting trial, has denied any wrongdoings and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, he faces federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges in New York and Chicago, plus charges in Illinois and Minnesota.
