Kim Kardashian’s ‘SNL’ Hosting Appearance Boosts Ratings 1 Week After Worst-Watched Season Opener In The Show’s History
It seems that Kim Kardashian’s Saturday Night Live appearance was one for the history books! Over the weekend Kim Kardashian, 40, hosted Saturday Night Live for the second episode of season 47. According to reports, the Skims owner greatly helped boost the Nielsen ratings for the comedic series by bringing in a 3.8 household rating (live and same day) and a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
While the opening episode for the season, which was hosted by actor Owen Wilson, 52, was reported to be the worst-rated opener for SNL and earned a 3.5 household rating and a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic, Kim Kardashian’s appearance increased SNL’s overall numbers by a reported 8.5% and demographic numbers by 23%.
During her opening monologue, she seemingly poked fun at SNL’s recently decreased viewership and low ratings and said,
“I’m so used to having 360 million followers watching my every move, and how many people watch SNL? Like 10 million? Tonight is just a chill, intimate night for me.”
Kim also fired off a few jabs about her own life and joked that her estranged husband’s, Kanye West, personality is the reason she filed for divorce.
Nothing seemed to be off limits for the mother of four. She then joked about her mother’s, Kris Jenner, boyfriend, Corey Gamble, being a gold digger. She said.
“But the one thing I’m really proud of is that no one could ever call me a gold digger. Honestly, I’m not sure how you even become one. So I asked my mom’s boyfriend Corey.”
Kim even took a shot at her sisters too.
“I’m excited to be here tonight to show you guys that I’m so much more than just a pretty face… and good hair and great makeup and amazing boobs and a perfect butt. Basically, I’m just so much more than that reference photo my sisters show their plastic surgeons.”
