Tyler Perry Offers Resources To Help Solve Clarence Avant’s Wife’s Murder

Lauded film and TV show maker Tyler Perry is always extending a helping hand, and now he’s offering to help solve a horrific crime.

Tyler Perry took to Instagram to express his sadness and sympathy for the sudden shooting death of legendary music executive Clarence Avant’s 81-year-old wife, Jacqueline. His post read:

“My heart breaks for Clarence and Nicole and all the Avant family. This world can be so cruel and cold!! I have no idea what kind of sub-human could shoot an 81 year old woman, and in her own home.”

He continued:

“But you can rest assured that every available resource will be used to find whoever is responsible for this awful nightmare. This is tremendously sad.”

Tyler’s creative impact has been emblazoned in Black Hollywood, but he’s done far more than dress up as a crazy old woman to entertain people. His films have grossed millions since he debuted with Diary of a Mad Black Woman in 2005. After an extremely successful run in Hollywood with movies, TV shows, and plays, Tyler was able to purchase the land that would become Tyler Perry Studios. Quite a few films have used the studio, including Marvel’s 2018 box office hit Black Panther.

Tyler has leveraged his powerful position in Hollywood to help many. In 2018, former The Cosby Show actor Geoffry Owens made headlines when photos of him working as a cashier at Trader Joe’s surfaced. The media had a field day with that shocking piece of information and shamed him into quitting the job. Tyler swooped in and put an offer for a guest role on his series The Haves and the Have Nots on the table. Geoffry accepted and went on to star in 10 episodes.

Actress Keke Palmer–who has appeared in some of Tyler’s productions–has shared that Tyler was adamant about assisting her with her severe skin condition.

At 14 years old, Keke’s battle with acne had already begun. Of Tyler’s kind gesture, she said:

“I remember when I was 14 and Tyler Perry pulled my mom aside at the NAACP awards and literally said, ‘I would pay for her to go to a dermatologist, to the best dermatologist, to help her with her skin’,”

She continued:

“I’m grateful to Tyler Perry to this day. I don’t tell many people that story, but I was so grateful to him for helping me because he had the resources and he was paying it forward.”

Jacqueline Avant was killed yesterday (Dec. 1) in a home invasion. Unknown intruders stormed their Beverly Hills home and robbed Jacqueline at gunpoint around 2 AM. Clarance, along with a security guard, was home at the time, but they were not injured. Their exact whereabouts during the incident are not known at this time.

Jacqueline was a devout philanthropist who spent her 81 years helping her community.
