An up-and-coming West Coast rapper has just tragically lost his life.

Yesterday night (Wednesday, Dec. 8th), Slim 400–a rapper from Compton, California–was shot and killed in Los Angeles. Specifically, the 33-year-old artist was murdered in Inglewood. The details surrounding the situation–such as the number of suspects or the catalyst of the shooting–remain unclear.

The matter was first reported on Twitter through a statement made by the No Jumper podcast’s account, with the news breaking shortly before 10 p.m. PST last night (Wednesday, Dec. 8th).

Slim 400 (real name Vincent Cohran) was a rising rapper who was predominately known in the West Coast rap scene. He was known for hits such as “Goapele”, “Caviar Gold (IceWata)”, and “Piru.”

Notably, this tragedy comes about two-and-a-half years after Slim 400 was ambushed in a drive-by shooting in his hometown of Compton. Back in June 2019, the rapper was shot a whopping nine times while visiting his family.

He later opened up about the experience during an interview with an L.A.-based radio station, saying:

“I just feel like when you meant to be here and God have a plan for you, it ain’t no stoppin’ it. I hit the ground thinking it was over. My family came out, kept me alive, talking to me, dragging me in the house while they still shooting… My family, love her to death for just saving me. I just feel like I’m blessed just to be here, ’cause I could have just died then and there.”
