Kim Kardashian Shows Support For Man Sentenced To 110 Years For Colorado Truck Crash Where Four People Were Killed

Kim Kardashian is in support of a clemency petition for 26-year-old truck driver, Rogel Aguilera-Mederos whose brake failure caused a fiery crash that killed four people, and was recently sentenced to 110 years in prison. Reportedly, On April 25th, 2019, Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, 26, was driving a semi-truck along Interstate 70 in Lakewood, Colorado, when he slammed into two dozen vehicles – including four other transporters stuck in rush-hour traffic. The impact caused a fiery explosion and killed four innocent people. Earlier this month, Rogel was sentenced to 110 years which is the minimum allowed by Colorado’s sentencing laws. His harsh sentence quickly went viral and drew criticism among millions of people. According to reports, 4.6 million people have already signed a petition for Rogel to receive clemency.

One of his many supporters is Kim Kardashian, 41. The lawyer-to-be took to Twitter to share her opinion on the matter. She starts out by noting that she has taken a “deep dive” into the case.

In a string of tweets, Kim continued to give her opinion on the case, proclaiming her distain for mandatory minimums.

“He was not drunk or under the influence; his brakes on the tractor-trailer failed……Another shocking and unfair part of this case is that the judge didn’t want to sentence him to such a lengthy sentence.”

She continued,

“However, because of the mandatory minimums in Colorado, his hands were tied. Mandatory minimums take away judicial discretion and need to end….. Colorado law really has to be changed and this is so unfair. “

As previously reported, Kim Kardashian  passed the California First-Year Law Students’ Examination–also known as the “baby bar” earlier this month. This accomplishment comes after three failed attempts at the exam. Kim has been very vocal about prison reform, and has used her platform to help free more than a dozen federal prisoners over the past few years.
