Tyler Perry Channels Adele, Jokes That He’s Releasing “Madea” Album & Doing Sit-Down Oprah Interview [Photos]

It looks like Tyler Perry is bringing back his iconic film character Madea, only this time, for an album! The 52-year-old actor/director took to Instagram on Wednesday (Jan.5) to share that Madea, aka, “Ma-delle” will be releasing an album and also has plans to have a sit down interview with TV giant, Oprah Winfrey. Tyler Perry jokingly wrote,

“After many years Ma-delle releases her new album, 90. Tune in for a very special interview with Oprah where she talks about her divorce and the new album. She will even perform her new single, Go Hard On Me, and her oldie but goodie, Hellur…NETFLIX!!”

 

He also posted a photoshopped picture of his character Madea (portrayed by himself) sitting down with Oprah.

Oprah Winfrey caught wind of Tyler Perry’s post and quickly responded, agreeing to this hilarious idea of an interview with Madea. She said,

“HellURRRRRR [In her Madea voice] It’s ME… I’m ready for our sit down convo. Need to know what you’ll be wearing so I can coordinate colors and set background. Have your people call my people.”

This all comes as a nod to singer Adele who recently released a chart topping album titled, “30”, and also had a major interview with Oprah. Tyler Perry even used Adele’s album cover as inspiration for Madea’s, also taking part of the singer’s name and creating a new persona (Ma-delle) for the beloved character.

As previously reported, Tyler Perry’s Madea is coming out of retirement and heading to Netflix! The upcoming 12th installment of the franchise, A Madea Homecoming, will be released in 2022. We were first introduced to Madea in the 1999 play I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Since then, she’s been at the center of other theater productions and dozens of films, TV shows and even a book.
